In the Classroom

The Difference

Upon completion of our new website and installation of our local school server, our students will be able to email each other (local school email only) and their teachers. Teachers will have the capability to email their students and respond to questions/concerns that students might not feel comfortable voicing in class. Our parents will also be allowed access to our local school email to allow for greater communication between school and home.

Our old Web site has information for parents and the community about upcoming events. We are installing a local school server and have ordered Mac notebooks that will allow our teachers and students to create podcasts that can be shown to our entire school. We are installing a large screen and a multi-media lectern in our cafeteria/meeting room. This will give us the opportunity to broadcast to a larger group of students. The large screen and local server will be used to enhance our Parent University. Our parents will be able to come in and view podcasts created by our students and teachers. This screen and our podcast capability will allow us to teach our parents about various computer programs on a much larger scale. We also offer basic computer classes for our parents and community members utilizing our two computer labs. Based on research provided by Dr. Ruby Payne, A Framework for Understanding Poverty, the school realizes that students from a poverty background come to school lacking many experiences that lead to school success. Her research also indicates that technology can help overcome this lack of life experiences and provide the necessary means to make a student successful in today’s world. We strive to constantly update the technology in our school to insure that our students remain at the cutting edge of this ever changing field.
